Quick Assessment

Learn how the free Quick Assessment works and what your results mean.

What is the Quick Assessment?

The Quick Assessment is a free, anonymous tool on the SeedGovernance marketing site that helps you discover which data governance and compliance frameworks are relevant to your business. It takes approximately two minutes, requires no account, and produces a personalised recommendation report.

You can take the assessment as many times as you like. If you change your answers -- for example, after expanding into a new region -- your results will update accordingly.

What it asks

The assessment consists of 12 questions grouped into four areas:

1. Company profile

  • Your company name (used only for labelling your results)
  • Industry sector (e.g., Healthcare, Financial Services, SaaS / Technology, Retail)
  • Company size range (1-10, 11-50, 51-200, 201-1000, 1000+)

2. Operating regions

  • Countries or regions where you have customers, employees, or data subjects
  • Whether you process data of EU/EEA residents
  • Whether you process data of residents in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, UAE)

3. Data types

  • Whether you handle personal health information (PHI)
  • Whether you handle payment card data
  • Whether you develop or deploy AI/ML systems

4. Current maturity

  • Whether you already have any governance documentation in place
  • Whether you are preparing for a specific audit or certification
  • Whether you have worked with a governance consultant before

How results are scored

Based on your answers, SeedGovernance maps your profile against all 33 supported frameworks and classifies each one into one of three categories:

  • Mandatory -- Frameworks that are legally required given your industry, data types, and regions. For example, if you process EU personal data, GDPR will be marked mandatory. If you handle payment cards, PCI DSS will appear here.
  • Recommended -- Frameworks that are not strictly required by law but are strongly advisable for your business context. ISO 27001 often falls here for SaaS companies that want to demonstrate security posture to enterprise customers.
  • Optional -- Frameworks that you might adopt proactively for competitive advantage, investor readiness, or internal best practice, but that are not driven by a specific legal or contractual obligation.

Understanding your results page

After completing the assessment, you are presented with a results screen showing:

  • A summary of your company profile as entered
  • The total number of applicable frameworks broken down by category
  • A list of each framework with its category, a one-line description, and a link to the detailed framework page on our site
  • An estimated number of document templates that come with your applicable frameworks

You can optionally enter your email address to have the results sent to your inbox as a reference. This email also includes a direct link to resume the assessment or retake it later.

How results connect to your account

If you proceed to create a SeedGovernance account after completing the assessment, your results are imported automatically:

  • Mandatory frameworks are pre-selected and activated in your workspace
  • Recommended frameworks are shown in a "suggested" state that you can activate with one click
  • Your company profile answers pre-fill the registration form so you do not need to re-enter them

If you skip the assessment and sign up directly, you can always take it later from within your account dashboard. The results will be applied the same way.

Privacy and data handling

Assessment responses submitted without an email address are processed transiently and are not stored. If you provide an email, the results are retained for 12 months or until you request deletion. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
